Ever since I took my first math course as an undergraduate, I have loved mathematics. It truly is a beautiful subject that I believe everyone has the capacity to understand. I worked as a tutor all through my undergraduate career and continue to do so through my PhD work. I pride myself on being able to identify gaps in a students knowledge and helping them to overcome those gaps. Often times I have found that a student's issues with a current course are tied back to something they missed in an earlier subject; we'll figure out together how to get you where you want to be.

I have a love for tutoring because the way that I learned math was in small groups and one on one tutoring. Many of the courses I was in took an inquiry based approach to learning; this translates perfectly to tutoring others. I want to help people understand that they can do math, to encourage them, to support them in their learning, and to open their eyes to the beautiful world of mathematics.

I received my Bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Chemistry at Berry College in Rome, Georgia. I worked for 4 years there as a mathematics tutor, and as a research assistant (2 years of which were funded by a grant). I am currently a PhD graduate student in Mathematics at LSU. I have been leading labs in Business Calculus, usually 5 sections per semester, and holding regular office hours. Students who take advantage of my office hours often tell me they wish they had come to my office sooner as the one on one help was exactly what they needed to understand the material.

The most important thing for me is that you, the student, come to a better understand of the material so that you can tackle whatever math courses you decide to take. I have picked up my old mentor's habit of staying in my office long past the time my office hours are up, so long as there as still students who need my help. Math is hard; but it's also beautiful, and I know you can do it.

Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in having me as a tutor; I prefer sche

I have taken advanced courses in Linear Algebra as part of my undergraduate major. In addition, my current PhD research is heavily dependent on linear algebra. I've found that an inquiry based learning approach is effective for this subject.
