I have recently graduated with my Master's Degree in Forensic Genetics, and I have been a successful student through my primary and secondary school careers. I have experience with tutoring in Math and English for elementary school students, as well as standardized test preparation at this age level. I have worked at a summer literacy camp for rising 1st and 2nd graders. The camp is designed to help assist students who are falling behind in reading and writing for their grade levels. The camp has allowed students to have fun while learning. I have acquired techniques for fun-learning through the literacy camp.
My experience goes beyond tutoring in that I have 9 years of experience in childcare for elementary school aged children through the YMCA afterschool programs and daycare. This experience has allowed me to relate to children and have an understanding that assists in the learning experience. Homework help was also a job requirement for the afterschool program at the YMCA. Overall, I have acquired some experience in tutoring due to my being an excellent student with experience with children. I am a fun-learning type of tutor that is able to approach learning from a variety of angles.
I am looking forward to help out in this world where learning can be so difficult. Ashley is doing a great job with our son! She teaches while having fun and finds great and easy ways for your child do be a better reader and listener as well. Although we had three sessions I must say. My son loves her already and gets excited about his tutoring, he's always looking forward! Thanks Ashley for helping out. We are looking forward to many more sessions!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have had previous experience tutoring in elementary math. My tutoring experience was in North Carolina. Most of my math tutoring experience was EOG (end of grade) test related, preparing the students for the EOG.
I was a camp counselor at a summer literacy camp that worked with kids struggling with reading and created a fun learning environment.
