About Daremy

Dear Students and Parents,

Hello. I am Daremy. I would be honored to serve as your tutor of choice.

I have nearly 10 years tutoring experience along with two years teaching as a middle school English teacher and high school Science teacher. I am currently studying for my teaching certification in Social Studies (grades 7-12). In addition to being an educator, I am also a lawyer. I have a Juris Doctorate degree from the Louisiana State University Law Center where I received the Ernest "Dutch" Morial Legal Scholarship. I graduated from my undergraduate institution (Louisiana State University) with a BA in History with a 3.95 in my major courses and a 3.34 overall GPA. I am a Phi Alpha Theta, History Honor Society, member. I have a long history of excellence in reading and writing which is exemplified by my scholastic honors and achievements.

My undergraduate and graduate educational experiences required me to be an exemplary writer and researcher. Including my current position as a Physical and Environmental Science Teacher and my past positions as an English Teacher, Disaster Recovery Specialist, Legal Researcher and Law Clerk, I have over 10 years of project management; federal regulatory; legislative research experience; management analysis methodologies, techniques and tools sufficient to provide guidance, direction and support; knowledge of on-site risk assessments; and development of innovative tools to educate public officials and homeowners on loss prevention solutions for at-risk structures.

As a Law Clerk, I was part of an effort to reform Louisiana’s Indigent Defense program. This program needed reform as it was commonly the case for Public Defenders in Louisiana cities to have over one hundred cases. With Public Defenders having so many cases an indigent defendant’s right to effective counsel was compromised. In this effort, I oversaw data collection and responded to correspondence from incarcerated persons whom had their right to effective counsel compromised. Also, as a Law Clerk, I assisted in recording inmate demographic information and legal case status for those inmates whose legal records were destroyed in Hurricane Katrina. My efforts in these projects drew upon my legal writing and federal and state legal researching skills in the areas of criminal law, federal and state legal procedure, and U.S. and State Constitutional law.

As a Legal Researcher, I established strategic partnerships with state and municipal government officials while researching and collecting building permit data for a ten-parish metropolitan area, as part of a large scale mixed-use real estate development project being undertaken by an international real estate development company. In this role, I served as the primary external commercial interface for the Schout Company in the Baton Rouge Metropolitan area. This role also drew upon my legal writing and federal and state legal researching skills in the area of property law.

Recently, as a Disaster Recovery Specialist II – Projects and Grants Manager, I participated in a team work environment in helping Louisiana manage over $250 million dollars of Federal Emergency grant money. I developed and managed standards development activities, including associated project plans, to develop high quality standards that provided for an adequate level of disaster recovery reliability. I executed, controlled, and proactively managed to project schedules, including risk identification, risk mitigation, and change management. Also, I assisted GOHSEP’s legal department in developing regulatory filings related to GOHSEP activities and communicated with industry stakeholders regarding draft standards through presentations, briefings, seminars, news articles, and workshops. My role was instrumental in ensuring that elevations of structures, both residential and governmental, were conducted to alleviate future risk of destruction from natural or manmade disasters. These elevations were conducted in accordance with FEMA’s Stafford Act and FEMA’s Region VI leadership to not only alleviate future risk of destruction but also to ensure transparency in the bid process in awarding elevation construction contracts. My role required me to communicate effectively and persuasively to my leadership at GOHSEP but also to FEMA’s Region VI leadership to facilitate the successful development and implementation of standards. Also, I partnered with corporate and business leaders, subject matter experts, functional resources, and external emergency response resources to bring about disaster recovery and emergency management initiatives and awareness. My efforts in this project drew upon my legal writing and federal and state legal researching skills in the areas of State and Federal government relations, Federal and State Legal Procedure, the Code of Federal Regulations, U.S. and State Constitutional law, Property law, Contract law, and State and Federal Ethics laws.

These are but a few of my relevant skills that I feel will be of great benefit to those in need of tutoring services. Thank you.
