I have a degree in Elementary Education from Southern University. I am an educator in the public school system. My love of teaching comes from being a life long learner. I know that hard work and dedication to learning can pay off. As an educator I've had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students realize their academic potential. Also, I've had success in improving students grades and test scores. I specialize in tutoring reading and math for elementary grades K-6. I am certified in grades 1-8. Also, I have experience with common core, LEAP/PARCC, and GED exams.
My math qualifications include teaching math for grades 2-7. I have lots of professional development hours with a concentration in math. Also, I am an advocate for common core math.
I'm certified in grades 1-8 in all subjects and I've taught reading and writing for multiple years in a departmentalization school structure.

My goal for tutoring is to focus on one skill per session that keeps the student challenged and engaged. I am available for tutoring Mon-Fri from 9 am - 9 pm and Saturday from 9 am - 12 pm. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
