About Margot

HELLO TO YOU! My interest in helping others to overcome any problem that is holding them back, or which may stop them from reaching their goals have led me to a lifelong career working or teaching in areas that I can affect by leveling the playing field. Part of leveling the playing field is teaching one what he needs to know and/or telling one how to gain access to that knowledge. Because of my desire for fairness, I have saved small businesses thousands of dollars individually and caused their grantors to provide clearer rules and regulations and by providing training to grantees.

My curiosity has led me to take courses just to find out how things work, who makes things work and how to persuade the work to be done. The courses I have taken have led to additional licenses or certifications, and hence the opportunity to make more money. For example, I have assisted in writing manuals for the transportation department of a school system, assisted in writing legislation for a State Board of Education, State Department of Education, and wrote procedures for due process hearings and acted as hearing officer for those procedures. I have taught short legal courses to aspiring paralegals in criminal law, criminal procedure, workers compensation, common law property, law and poverty, torts, civil procedure and contracts, along with wills and trusts and corporate law. I also have a funeral directors license and am active in that area, a insurance license, it is inactive, I hold a certificate of mediation, (inactive) and was licensed by the Atlanta Justice system and State of Louisiana. I have acted as Judge pro tem in juvenile court , I taught West Law at Louisiana State University, and Poverty and Law and Common Law (real property) at Southern University Law Center. I was Deputy General Counsel and General Counsel for the Louisiana State Department of Education. I have been intimately involved in litigation in many of these areas, but specialized primarily in family law and criminal law.

I am able to assist in preparing for your bar exam in property law in common law states as well as Louisiana. I am capable of assisting in preparation for torts, criminal law, civil procedure, evidence and family law. I primarily practiced in those areas, however, I am capable of assisting in other areas of law.

My primary goal in tutoring is to improve the student's knowledge in the subject area and give him the confidence that he knows what he is writing or talking about. I am available Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, one half day Friday (afternoon to evening), and Saturday by appointment only, for the hours during the day of 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and evenings 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. My fee is $50.00 per hour on line and $65.00 per hour in person.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
