About Luke

Hi there! And thanks for checking out my profile.

I love the empowerment that comes from reading, from learning the social sciences, and from expressing myself in writing. Those are the reasons that I help others to become proficient in these subjects. I want to share my passion for English Literature, English Grammar and Vocabulary, Geography, History, Sociology, Writing, Public Speaking, and more, with all students of any age group. Knowledge of facts and ability of expression are the essential tools to success, not only academically, but in everyday circumstances.

I graduated from Louisiana State University, having majored in Sociology with a concentration in Criminology. In addition, I used my elective courses to gain minors in English Literature and Political Science. Presently, I am completing my third year of law school at the Southern University Law Center and will graduate with my Juris Doctorate in May of 2016.

During my junior year at LSU, I worked with the Cox Communications Center for Student Athletes as a tutor for several students in subjects ranging from Writing and English Literature to History and Political Science. Currently, I assist law students at SULC as a research associate for the legal database LexisNexis. If you or your student is of high school to college age, and looking for help with getting better at those term papers and writing projects, I'm prime.

If your student is of elementary or middle school age, I can help. I grew up within a homeschooling network and I understand the challenges of absorbing the basics of reading, grammar, vocabulary, and writing. Furthermore, I have seen and faced the challenges of creating study habits and practices for a variety of learning types. I can help develop the skill of working on your own.

When it comes to teaching yourself, I've been there, done it, and can help you succeed too.

Please feel free to contact me. I'd like to be there to help you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Political Science

I have taken and passed several courses in Political Science. In fact, I earned a minor in the subject while completing my undergraduate degree. I have worked as an intern for an United States Senator in Louisiana and have served as a law clerk for the Legislative Bureau of the Louisiana State Senate.

Writing

I received a minor in English Literature during my matriculation at LSU.
While at LSU I worked as a tutor in English and Writing through the Cox Communications Academic Center for Student Athletes.
Presently, I am a third year law student at Southern University Law Center.
