Hello, my name is Donnie. I am a firm believer in learning as much as you can in life. I have a passion for teaching and learning different types of math. In the past two years, I have tutored seventh and eighth graders at our local middle school in all types of math ranging from basic math to algebra II. In addition to tutoring math, I'm very involved with youth sports. I coach for our local little league and I also referee high school basketball and umpire high school baseball. I have been licensed through KHSAA in both sports for 5 years. I have also worked with the youth group at several different churches. I have an associates in arts and science from Somerset Community college. I am currently 3 classes away from having my bachelors degree from Eastern Kentucky University.

I understand how children learn in different ways. In math, there are many different ways of getting the correct answer; therefore, I will show the student many ways of answering the same question and let him/her decide which is easiest. Sometimes the simplest way to get the child to understand the problem is to relate the problem to something they enjoy doing. Example: Finding the mean, median and mode. Mean is the average; so if I have a student that likes basketball, I will relate it to basketball. The student doesn't like sports but plays video games, I have ways of relating it to video games as well.
