In addition to teaching my own children, I am also the acting director of the Georgetown Homeschool Group and participate as part of the teaching staff. My own educational experience contains bachelor's degrees in psychology and music therapy, a master's degree in administration and strategic planning, and a doctorate degree in naturopathic medicine. I also assist my husband with all business functions related to our family owned business.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. Although my professional training is not specific to dyslexia, I have completed a large amount of research on brain integration therapy and its applications. This research as been utilized in a hands on approach with our son who had visual tracking issues, dyslexia, and mixed brain dominance processing. He is now finishing his elementary education with no signs of dyslexia and is able to successfully complete the independent reading of his textbooks and chapter books for pleasure.
I have successfully home schooled three children through the elementary grades and am currently home educating my fourth child at this time. Our children rank in the top 20th percentile when taking the Stanford standardized tests each spring.
When a child is able to read with ease, the world is unlocked in every other academic area.
