I have been teaching for about 10 years in the Greater New Orleans area. I have taught in both the private and public school sectors. My teaching experience has been in eighth grade math, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Business Math, Math Essentials, and Statistics and Probability. I have also worked summer programs offering ACT Prep in mathematics and science reasoning.
I have done some tutoring outside of school, but I have mostly offered tutoring services to my own students after school. I have also served as a mentor to high school and undergraduate students on research projects in mathematics during summer programs. I enjoy offering tutoring to students because it gives me an opportunity to work one on one and truly understand the needs of the student that I am working with. Celebrating their accomplishments and watching those moments when things suddenly click are some of the most rewarding aspects of tutoring for me.
I have experience working with students on ACT math and science reasoning through summer programs dedicated to these content areas. I am familiar with the Louisiana Student Standards that guide the development of the mathematics curriculum in the state. Furthermore, I am well versed in the guidance provided by the Louisiana Department of Education related to the LEAP 2025 program, which are the high-stakes exams associated with Algebra I and Geometry. I was part of the pilot program for the state that has help to develop and refine the curriculum for the Statistical Reasoning course, which I have been working with for the past three years at my school.
I look forward to hearing from you about not only your successes but also your weaknesses and fears related to learning and succeeding in math. Together, I feel confident we can not only develop the skills that you might feel are lacking, but also enrich those skills to make you highly successful in your current coursework and beyond.
