Hello. I am very excited to begin my 10th year of teaching in JCPS. I have a lot of experience working with a very diverse population of students. I worked at Dixie Elementary for 6 years and I am most currently teaching at a Montessori Elementary School. Both of these schools are unique in their own ways and have definitely helped to mold me into the teacher I am today. I have personally tutored 6 students from different schools within the district. We used different types of materials and they were all able to see growth after we started to visit on a regular basis.
I know that some students may need one-on-one help that is not always available in the classroom. That is why I like to tutor. Some students learn different and just need to see something taught a different way in a different setting and then all of a sudden a light bulb goes off. Those are the moments I like to be a part of. I love to see students celebrate their successes!!
I am skilled in math because I am the math cohort lead for my grade group at school. As part of this training, I regularly attend professional development opportunities that keeps us up to date on new ways to teach math. I teach math in my classroom everyday to students who are high, medium, and low. My goal for them is to all move a tier. I plan to do that by implementing engaging, hands-on activities that connect students to the real world.
If you are worried about the upcoming school year, please don't hesitate to give me a call. I can help front load your child with the information they will learn as the year progresses. This will ensure that they walk in with confidence because they will have already been exposed to the content being taught. They will be ahead of the game. Call today to set up your first session. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
