About Michael

I have just recently moved to Louisville from a four year venture in Hawaii. While exploring the islands I was able to gain valuable experience through life, culture, art and sport. I taught art classes and workshops to all ages ranging from kindergartners through high school as well as adult classes. All types of media was covered; from wood carving to ceramics and metal working, and still life sketching through real life figurative painting.

I have also traveled to Brazil to play soccer and learn the South American culture and cannot wait to go back. I continued to play soccer through college until ultimately deciding to focus on my studies in order to get the most out of my degree from one of the most credible art programs in the country. I enjoy all walks of life, and cannot wait to see what else is in store once we get to know one another and learn from each others experiences.

I have played soccer since I was three years old and baseball at four, and have had the chance to train with some of the best athletes in America as well as Brazil (for soccer) and others from around the world. I genuinely love and appreciate the sport and realize that the benefit from learning the game aids in so many more aspects of life.

I have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Cincinnati - College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning; one of the most credible art institutes in the country. I have had the opportunity to learn from some of the best artists and professors from all around the globe, and have had the chance to teach classes and workshops in the tri-state area as well as Hawaii.

There is so much to learn with a little effort and curiosity. I guarantee you that you are more creative and gifted than you think. If you are willing to take a shot, you will be surprised with how much you can learn and grow just by putting yourself out there.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Drawing

I have been drawing/painting every since I was a young child. I have a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati - DAAP. My focus in my bachelors degree was a combination of drawing/painting and sculpture.

I have been classically trained by numerous professors and professional artists in figurative, still life, modern and postmodern art, realism as well as surreal subject matter.

I have extensive knowledge as to the process and history of art and drawing/painting, as well as fine art in general.
