I am excited to get to meet some students who are ready to learn. Learning should be fun and interesting. It is my hope that I can make your learning a fun, rewarding and even exciting experience, as we explore whatever difficulties you are having. Together we can turn a can't into a try into an accomplishment. Never say never. I have much experience in learning mainly because I am older and I never have stopped. The smarted people I know have always made learning, or saw learning as a fun thing. Once we open our minds to learning we can do anything.
I was raised well. I was raised by a teacher and a principal, my aunt and uncle raised me with constant grammar correction, but it paid off. To speak well is even more important than dressing well when making a great impression. I have noticed that English Grammar is not being taken seriously as it once was. I'm from the old school, I was actually taught grammar everyday of my life, over and over. So I'm your gal for this subject!
If English is not your first language, I can help you to speak less like a text book and more like an American. Unfortunately, the way you speak can keep you from succeeding. Let me help you to refine your American accent and therefore help you to reach your dreams in this country, not to merely survive.
I have a Masters of Art and Teaching from the University of Louisville. I have also studied art in California. I worked at Louisville Visual Arts Association and many other places as an Art Educator. I am an artist, but a teacher first. So, if you want to learn to draw and or paint I can do that. I have taught art to every age and and every mind set, even folks with multiple and severe physical disabilities. One of life's greatest pleasures is to share this joy by connecting with another human being thru Art. So no matter what level of talent you think you have or you don't have, i can teach you to draw and become the best artist you can be. We will turn "CAN'T" into "TRY" into SUCCESS!" I will bring out the Artist in YOU!
I hope that I have given you enough information to allow you to see my philosophy of learning. I am very serious about learning, don't get that wrong. One must put time and effort and focus into their studies and this becomes so much easier when you can enjoy the process. I want to make your learning a very rewarding experience, just as it should be. Contact me and let's make this happen for you. Let's get started by scheduling our lessons right away! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a Masters in Art and Teaching from the University of Louisville. I have taught art professionally in school settings, nursing homes, non-profit settings and workshops... to all ages and backgrounds. I worked as an Art Instructor and Gallery coordinator at Arts and Services for the Disabled in Long Beach for 7 years. I also took more art classes at CSUDH, in California. This is my most proficient area since I am an artist, myself.
Drawing on the left side of the Brain... and sight drawing are a couple of techniques I have adopted in my teaching of Drawing.
