Wesley has done the impossible! He helped me pull out a B on my midterm when, at the beginning of the semester, I was sure I was going to fail. He's has a great way of teaching Algebra so that I understand and makes it easy to follow along. Highly recommended! Thanks, Wesley.
Wesley thought me math, He is very pleasant and knowledgeable patient, also he is always on time for lesson's and he genuinely cares for his student not just for being paid! He make's me really start to like math.
Wesley was very prepared for our meeting and he was able to guide me, step-by-step. I went from frustrated to knowledgeable in a short amount of time as he helped me to make sense of difficult subject matter. I will definitely use him again.
I hadn't been exposed to any mathematical concepts for years, but Wesley helped me understand and conceptualize a number of topics that provided a good foundation for moving forward. He is also very timely in returning emails.
He explains Algebra 2 and Geometry to my teenager in simple terms. He has decreased the anxiety for him tremendously. Really glad we found him.
I hired Wesley to tutor my son in math so that he can earn his GED. My son's math skills were very minimal and Wesley was able to not only teach him the math skills but also helped to encourage him and boost his confidence. I would most definitely recommend Wesley as a tutor.
Wes has been a huge help with BC Calculus. He helped refresh on last year and is working on newer material for the start of school. I love how he is timely, even early! It's been a great fit so far.
Mr. H explains concepts really well and is very patient! I was having a lot of issues with Calculus, but after only one session with him, I felt a lot more confident when approaching Calculus. I will definitely continue to seek help from him when I need help with Calculus!
I contacted Wesley to help with a logic class I was struggling with. He was very knowledgeable of the course I was taking. This knowledge made working with him and learning the information I was missing very easy. He was also very easy to contact, returned messages either by phone or e-mail very quickly, and had great availability. I would highly recommend using him for any subject he is proficient with, he was a great teacher.
As a High School math teacher in Kentucky, I have experience teaching the new "Common Core" state standards for High School math. I was part of a team that helped see it through its transition phase from the old standards. In the process, I helped design and implement lessons that targeted specific standards. As a result, I gained a detailed understanding of what students are expected to know in school today.
Differential Equations is an integral part of Calculus. I have a College Board certificate for teaching AP Calculus (AB) and have experience teaching it at the High School level. I took Calculus I, II, III, and Complex Analysis as an undergraduate in college. I also have a working knowledge of Maple and experience with the TI 83/84+ and N-Spire calculators.
Discrete Math was one of my first math courses in college. As a math teacher, I taught Applied Math at the High School level, in which Graph theory and Combinatorics played a large role. I have published work online in many areas of Discrete Math. I have also written over 20 volumes of research in Discrete areas such as Arithmetic Functions, Number Theory, Partitions, and Unsolved Problems in Math.
Drawing has always been a talent of mine. I honed my drawing skills in college, and finished a Bachelor's degree with a double major in drawing/painting and graphic/web design. While a student, I was an active member of the Industrial Design Club (where we drew up designs). I have taken numerous courses in drawing including: Basic Drawing I, Design Drawing I, Design Drawing II, Anatomy for Artists, Life Drawing II, Architectural Drawing, Illustration I, Illustration II. I have award winning artwork that includes the categories of Drawing, Life Drawing, and Digital Art. I have work related experience as well with drawing, including commercial art and drawing commissions.
I took Linear Algebra while I was an undergraduate in college. I have taught the beginnings of Linear Algebra as a High School math teacher (matrix algebra, systems of equations, systems of inequalities, linear programming, etc). I have used concepts from linear algebra and its connection to graph theory in my personal research. I also have experience working with matrices and linear algebra on the graphing calculator and with Maple.
Logic is the science of evaluating and classifying statement forms. I have a broad understanding of logic and its many branches: Symbolic logic (of language), Programming logic, and Mathematical logic (prepositions, quantifiers, proofs, etc.) I have taken many courses that have given me an appreciation for the foundations of logic including: Introduction to Logic, Computer Programming, Discrete Math, and Numbers and Proof. I have also taken many advanced math courses that involve more detailed methods of proof including Abstract Algebra, Modern Geometry, Calculus III, and Complex Analysis.
Painting is one of my best skills. I learned many techniques and concepts in college. While there, I double majored in Drawing & Painting and Graphic/Web Design. During my coursework, I had the opportunity to take many painting courses including: Painting I, Painting II, Aqueous Media, Mixed Media I, Advanced Painting I, Advanced Painting II, and Advanced Major Projects. I have won numerous awards for my painting, and have exhibited my work in Ann Arbor Michigan. While a student, I was an active member of the Art Students League. My work experience includes work as a production artist, a commercial artist, and commissioned paintings.
I have a background in education and have taught at the High School and College level. I received a Master of Arts in Teaching with a major in Secondary Education. As a certified teacher, I had to prepare for many various teaching exams, including the Praxis PLT (Principles of Learning and Teaching). I have also passed four other Praxis subject area tests including: Math: Content Knowledge, Math: Models and Proof, Art: Art Making, and Art: Content Knowledge.
Public Speaking is an integral part of being an educator. Being prepared is the key. I have several years of experience with public speaking. I have done everything from presentations and lectures to leading activities and team teaching.
Study skills are one of the things that I have promoted as a teacher, professor, and tutor. I have utilized many study strategies including: Reading Strategies, Mathematical Methods, and Study Team Strategies. I also studied this intensively while getting a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education.
