To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Michele and I am certified to teach English/Language Arts grades 7-12 in Kentucky, New York, and Pennsylvania. Presently, I am teaching 11th grade English and ACT Prep in Louisville, KY, with specific focus on improving reading, writing, and test taking skills.
As a teacher, I work with students to ensure academic growth in reading and writing, by equipping students with the necessary skills to advance his or her abilities. In my current position as an 11th grade English teacher with JCPS, I have developed a keen sense of acknowledging literacy deficits in individual students and use this knowledge to implement various strategies in order to increase students' independent reading levels. Through a variety of best practices, my students have surpassed predicted scores on standardized reading and writing exams. My belief in a growth mindset propels my students and myself to strive for continued learning and success.
At while teaching 10th and 11th grade in New York and Pennsylvania, I had the privilege of developing and implementing the curriculum for SAT and ACT Preparatory courses. In developing the curriculum for these courses, I focused on vocabulary, grammar, active reading, and test taking strategies. Using these skills and techniques, students and colleagues, alike, noticed an improvement in reading and writing skills in other disciplines.
I pride myself on being able to meet the needs of each individual student in order to ensure the most success. As a tutor, I will be able to accommodate the needs the student and provide the necessary support in order to improve grades and ability.
