I have been teaching English as a second language since 2002 and now have my own English-tutoring business. I have 7 years of experience as a teacher through JCPS in the adult education program. I teach adults and school-age children at my studio on Goldsmith Lane. I have worked with people from all different countries, and I speak a little German and a little Spanish. I am comfortable teaching people of all levels of English except those at the very lowest, or illiterate, level. I have a master's degree and two bachelor's. Currently, I have about 30 students in my private practice but have taught several hundred since 2002 and I am told by my students that I am the best English teacher in Louisville, and some have said that I am the best teacher they have ever had. My lessons include grammar, reading, spelling, pronunciation, and anything else the student would like help with. I also can assist with those wanting to obtain citizenship or pass the TOEFL test. I look forward to working with you!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Although my primary work in teaching English to internationals has been with adults, I have had more than a dozen school-aged children who have been my students as well. I do require that an adult be present during a child's lesson, but I am quite comfortable working with children, helping them with their schoolwork, coaching them on their English, or checking and proofreading their written assignments and homework. I am foremost an English teacher, but I also excel in US and world history, geography, and social studies.
I have been teaching ESL to adults and school-aged children since 2002. I now own and manage my own business where I continue to teach English to internationals. I offer 1- and 2-hour classes in both small-group and private settings. Students are free to learn from books or study guides, or use my own materials. I have over 500 self-created lesson plans on a wide range of grammatical topics, and they include lessons in not only grammar, but also on spelling, pronunciation and diction, reading and culture, and many other things.
My students tell me that I'm the best English teacher they've ever had. Tell me if you agree!
I have been teaching English as a second language since 2002 and in that time, I have been the only local teacher that I know of that uses the International Phonetic Alphabet in class to teach proper pronunciation and diction. I also make great use of phonics in my English lessons when coaching a student to make the proper sounds in English. When I was a little boy, I was taught to read by using phonics and I am sold on their usefulness.
I consider myself to be an expert on diction and accent reduction and have created many lesson plans and student guides to help students improve their English pronunciation.
