I am a native Russian speaker, with a degree in English. I have taught and tutored Russian for over 10 years and have a great experience teaching from the beginner to the advanced levels. I have a variety of textbooks and materials I can use in tutoring sessions for any level of learning. I adapt my teaching style to the needs of a student, and do a variety of methods: from conversational, Rosetta Stone style to the in-depth grammar study. I have experience teaching in groups and one-on-one, children and adults. Very flexible and personable.

Natalya is patient, kind, incredibly knowledgeable, energetic, understanding and excited to teach. She is the absolute perfect tutor! She knows her stuff and has a great arsenal of Russian material she has carefully selected. I have studied Russian for over a year now and the very first day we talked she easily transitioned to teaching to my exact intermediate level perfectly. We discuss and examine very closely the mechanics of the language, something she helps me understand so much better not only because of her native understanding of Russian and absolute native-level English, but her knowledge of linguistics as well. I have studied Russian both in the US and abroad and I can safely say Natalya is the absolute best. I am excited for every lesson and leave each lesson with a smile on my face, eager to go home and review all that I have learned that day. I look forward to continuing with her and improving my Russian. Thank you so much, Natalya!
Natalya is an excellent teacher. She is in my estimation, somewhat "old school" in her approach. We work on the Cryllic alphabet and the true sounds each letter makes (if any). We build and sound out words from the letters, with emphasis on the PROPER pronunciation. Natalya is interested in having her students learn how to read/recognize the letters, create words, and speak the words first. This appears to be a longer way to learn to speak Russian, but clearly a more productive and in-depth method that generates a better understanding. This is fine by me and what I had expected. I am sure she can tailor any lesson plan to one's own personal objective(s). The fact the she is a teacher and extremely well educated is quickly apparent. Her style of teaching is patient and compassionate. She is in no way harsh and matches her pace to that of the student. it is my impression that she genuinely hopes that her students can actually speak good Russian. I actually like the lessons and like her personally. All of this is coming from someone who is not normally a complimentary person.
I have now enjoyed two lessons with Natalya. With each succeeding lesson, my confidence grows in both my instruction and my instructor. After studying independently for more than a year, I felt that it made sense to engage a tutor, preferably one whose native language is Russian. It is always an uncertain journey when searching for such an instructor. I’m very well pleased that I made contact with Natalya and hope that this continues to grow into a mutually beneficial partnership. She has helped me identify and correct some learning mistakes that I would never have come to realize using former study methods. Nothing replaces the personal interest and attention that a private instructor is capable of providing. Natalya provides for that need admirably. I hope to develop into a student that she can take pride in as well.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified (from overseas) teacher of English. My undergraduate degree in Foreign Languages qualifies me to teach English as a second language. I can provide unique insight into studying ESL since I learned English as my second language as well. I am a passionate, articulate and knowledgeable tutor that would meet you at your level.
I am a native Russian speaker and have an excellent command of my native language. In addition, I have a degree in English and German (from former Soviet Union), which makes me an expert not only in Russian but in English grammar, which is necessary when tutoring an English speaker.
I have tutored and taught Russian language for almost 10 years and have extensive experience teaching groups (up to 12 people) and in one-on-one settings (I tutor most of my students this way). I have a wide range of teaching styles and levels, depending on a student's need. I have taught Russian to beginners, mid-level and advanced (almost fluent) students. I have a variety of textbooks and teaching materials at hand that I some times use in my classes. I have taught children, teenagers and adults.
In addition, I have a Masters Degree in Diplomacy and International Organizations from the University of Kentucky, which gives me credentials to tutor and relate to students with advanced degrees, and teach not only the Russian language, but the culture.
