BS University of Kentucky (Chemistry)
I'm Kimmy! I am currently pursuing a PhD in Chemistry at the University of Kentucky and I hold a BS in Chemistry, with a Biochemistry focus.
While in undergrad I was endorsed by the University as a private tutor with a listing on the department webpage and have been privately tutoring for 3 years. I was also an instructor for Chemistry Excel for 3 semesters. Chem Excel is a class at UK for students who need extra guidance in chemistry. Its a peer and group oriented course that allows students to ask more questions and discuss more concepts for an in-depth understanding of topics.
I am also currently a Teaching Assistant for upper level laboratories in chemistry at UK.
My tutoring style is all about discussing and working through problems together! Chemistry can be tough, especially when you are first trying to understand an abstract concept and I believe talking through it is the best way to have the basic understanding you need to move forward and tackle difficult problems. Learning styles are diverse, and I will tailor my teaching to fit your needs! Different people need different things, and I want to work with you so you can be as successful as possible in any course you are struggling with.
I am easy to reach and will respond within 24 hours. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or to set up a session!
There is nothing more rewarding than helping a student succeed. Science courses can be extremely rigorous, but I've watched many students surprise themselves with how successful they can be with a little extra guidance! I'm Kimmy! Kimberly was able to explain concepts of organic chemistry that I hadn't been able to understand. She was friendly, patient and caring. I felt I could ask her anything without her judging me. I will continue to use her as my tutor for organic chemistry.
Kimmy really helped me extract the data needed to understand the concepts of probability. She also helped me with my marketing math. She is easy to talk to and is very patient. Looking forward to setting another tutoring session. Thank you!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
