Hello! I am a Nationally Board Certified Teacher with 25 years experience in teaching and tutoring. I currently work as an 8th grade middle school math teacher, however, I am also highly qualified in writing and reading. I have done tutoring in the community for programs at the Public Library, as well as after school tutoring serving the students in our school.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to focus on one individual student and take them from where they are currently performing academically, and move them up to the next level. It gives me great pleasure to take a student who thinks they can't, and show them that they most certainly can!
Years of experience working with all types of students at various levels of math abilities and performance levels. Patience. I have attended countless hours of professional development in the area of math, and logged 25 years worth of hours teaching the subject.
Along with regular math classes, I am highly qualified to teach students with special needs. I have worked with special needs students every year for 25 years. I understand the unique challenges they face, and can pace instruction according to their individualized learning pace.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have worked one on one with students with Asperger's in math and language arts for 25 years. I have a Master's Degree in Special Education that qualifies me to teach students in grades K-12 with special needs from the University of Kentucky and Georgetown College. I teach Pre-Algebra and Algebra at the middle school level, and have done so for the past 25 years (as well as English/Language Arts). I was a member of the 21st Century Learning Grant (sponsored by Bill Gates) and tutored at school (ESS - Extended School Services), as well as the Public Library when working with the grant.
I am also the case manager of 10-12 students each year, responsible for the monitoring of their individualized Education plans and all learning goals in math and English. I am a private tutor during the summer months, and thought I would investigate the possibilities working with WyzAnt.
I am highly qualified to teach English/Language Arts by the Educational Professional Standards Board. I have taught these subjects (as well as math) for 25 years at the middle school level.
