I am seeking students for most subjects related to math, science, and engineering. I have two B.S. degrees: one in Materials Science and Engineering and one in Chemical Engineering and am currently pursuing my M.S. degree in Earth and Environmental Science.

I have a life long passion for learning and am particularly interested in all technical subjects.

I developed an interest in sharing my enthusiasm for math, science, and engineering as an undergraduate in college. I was able to offset the costs of tuition by working as a math tutor through my college's tutoring center as well as serving as a private tutor for math, chemistry, and physics. As I progressed in my studies, I was offered several opportunities to serve as a teacher's assistant in my engineering courses. I was always happy to accept these positions because I learned that the best way to become an expert on a subject is to teach it to someone else.

I still hold this philosophy, but also recognize the importance of contributing to having a technically-literate population. My personal respect for and interest in a vast array of technical subjects is very strong and I look forward to making others as excited about these subjects as I am.

I have experience in tutoring either one-on-one or in group settings and have worked with students of various ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Mathematica

I took a suite of courses in Mathematica programming specifically targeted to materials sciences and received A grades in all courses. I really enjoyed using Mathematica and tried to use it as much as possible as an undergraduate and still do as a professional.

Chemical Engineering,

Chemical Engineering

I have a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Virginia Tech. I graduated magna cum laude and was a member of the Chemical Engineering Honor Society, Omega Chi Epsilon. I received at least a B in all Chemical Engineering courses and maintained an in major GPA of 3.6. I am a recent graduate, so this information is still fresh in my mind. I tutored for the mass and energy balances course at my college.
Differential Equations,

Differential Equations

I have used differential equations in my coursework associated with my undergraduate degrees in engineering. I also solve differential equations fairly often for my graduate work. I am a very quantitative person and enjoy solving these types of problems myself as well as teaching others the most effective methods for solving them.
Linear Algebra,

Linear Algebra

I took linear algebra as an undergraduate and received an A grade. I also used linear algebra in several engineering courses. These courses included crystallography as well as several engineering mechanics courses.

Mechanical Engineering,

Mechanical Engineering

As a double major in two engineering disciplines: Chemical and Materials Engineering, I have taken several courses in Engineering Mechanics. I can tutor the following subjects: Statics, Mechanics of Deformable Bodies, and Mechanics of Materials. I previously served as a teaching assistant for several introductory materials sciences courses which cover extensively topics that cut across into mechanical engineering; namely, mechanics dealing with the strength and fracture of materials and materials selection based on mechanical properties of materials.

Organic Chemistry

I have two B.S. degrees, one in Chemical Engineering and one in Materials Science and Engineering. I also have a chemistry minor. My area of expertise is Polymer Science and Engineering. In my research, I have relied heavily on my foundation of organic chemistry. I have received A grades in every organic chemistry course and laboratory I have ever taken.

An A in AP Chemistry!

My daughter just received a 94% on her AP Chemistry final exam! We never would have survived this class without Stephanie's help. She really knows the subject and is also very thorough, patient and flexible. If my daughter needs tutoring in AP Physics or Calculus next year, Stephanie will be our first choice!

Excellent tutor

My daughter and Stephanie are a good match. Although my daughter needs her only to review lessons on test or quiz days, Stephanie has a good knowledge of the subject matter.
