About Antonio

I am an experienced and certified (CRLA) tutor. I tutor students in various courses and levels. I have tutored elementary, college, and adult students. I tutored at the University of Kentucky for 4 years, and all of my students excelled in their courses. I started on the 101 level and worked my way up, so I know the struggle in learning a new language, and how much time and effort it takes to grasp material. But with patience, enthusiasm, and focus, we can get through this together! I have taught Spanish to English speakers, and I have taught English to Spanish speakers; I am familiar with both sides of the coin. I currently work for the FCPS system assisting Spanish speaking families with the enrollment process. I've been to Guatemala and the Dominican Republic, and have friends currently living in Mexico and Guatemala with whom I frequently communicate. I am very patient, fun, and ambitious toward your success.

In tutoring sessions I take your pace, and do not move on until you understand the desired material. I do not answer questions. Instead I demonstrate to your level of comprehension until you can answer the question. I hope every tutoring session you learn something new, and leave with more confidence. I look forward to meeting you!

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Bible Studies

I led on campus Bible Studies, and am very familiar with the Bible. I am an active church member in my church, and attend Bible study and Sunday school. I know study and practical skills in the subject matter.

Music History

In my collegiate career my major was Arts Administration, and with this major we had to have an emphasis/minor, and my minor was music history. I took several music classes with the history ending. Such as Symphonic Music History, American Music History, Jazz History, etc.

Public Speaking

In my collegiate career I had to give a presentation in almost all of my classes. I also took a public speaking class, and a regular communications class. I learned the fundamentals and techniques to effective public speaking, and have implemented them in real life situations.

Study Skills

Having experience as a collegiate level student and tutor, study skills is the foundation of success as a student. Not only have I implemented study skills, but I have taught my tutees/students the study skills as well. Such as, 80 percent of the information learned in class is lost after you leave. So study after class to retain information better.
