It has been a while since I have consistently tutored, but with the difficulties brought on by the current COVID-19 pandemic, I decided to again offer my services to students to try to alleviate what can, at times, be a frustrating experience learning in these times.

Previously, I mostly tutored students in math. It really became a joy to help students understand this notoriously difficult subject. From my time at the University of Kentucky as a mathematics major - tutoring in the Academic Enhancement center there and teaching lower division math classes for the math department - to my time teaching at Bluegrass Community/ Technical College and tutoring students in their department as well as privately, I truly came to appreciate the gift of helping others learn and succeed.

While I really like tutoring students in math (including the math section on standardized exams such as the ACT, SAT, GRE, and ASVAB), I am also available to assist students in other subjects. I am currently a full-time firefighter/paramedic, preparing to go to Physician Assistant school, myself, so I can help with topics such as anatomy, pharmacology, chemistry, and others, as well. I tutor by asking a lot of questions of the student - not to make the student feel as if they don't know anything, but because I believe most students do, and by answering questions for themselves and seeing how much they do know and can learn, many find that their problem subject is not as bad as they've come to think it is.

I try to be as flexible as possible in accommodating students with time and location. I do, however, have a 24-hour cancellation policy to help me schedule to help as many students as possible. For in-person lessons, I usually meet students in local libraries - either on one of the university campuses or at one in the public library system - but depending on circumstances, I may be able to meet elsewhere. Additionally, I can accommodate distance lessons via the internet. I am available on every day except Sundays, depending on the week.

Very thankful

While I was online searching for a trig tutor, I came across Brian's profile. Brian was actually one of my prior algebra professors. Because of my previous positive experience with Brian I felt like I should give him a shot. When I first asked Brian for help, I was having issues with trig identities and solving trig equations algebraically. Brian did a fantastic job walking me through my struggle points while not giving away the answers. I like how he makes you think through the process while providing guidance when needed. He is very patient and knowledgeable. Ill be sure to use him for future classes if needed. Highly recommend!

Great Teacher

Brian is an awesome tutor. I made a 10 point jump in my GRE math score in just four weeks. He is extremely patient and was willing to work through the problems as many times as I needed until I understood it. I would recommend him as a tutor for anyone looking to improve their math score on the GRE!

Highly Recommend!

I highly recommend Brian for help with the GRE. He helped me reach my goal and I jumped 8 points. He was always accommodating to my bust schedule. Kept a positive encouraging attitude when I became overwhelmed with the material. Never made me feel dumb for not knowing the answers and was patient while we worked at my pace. I cannot thank him enough for his help!

Very knowledgeable about Trigonometry!

Brian, I thought it was a great start with Chris yesterday. We will see you next week at the same day/time! We appreciate your thoroughness and patience working with our son!
