About Craig

As a tutor my qualifications begin with nine years as a high school social studies teacher. As part of my experience I have worked as a mentor teacher for high risk freshmen who had struggled earlier in their academic career. I have worked as a college and career readiness specialist targeting middle school students. In this role I often provided direct tutoring services. I also have experience in adult education. In the capacity of adult educator the diversity of students I have worked with range from the incarcerated to the college student. I have worked with students of all ages from ten to seventy and with students of all academic levels.

My teaching style seeks to target the skills which students lack and break these concepts into the most simple terms. It has been my experience that if I can break an idea down into its most basic form I can increase the level of the academic challenge as it applies to the student's level of understanding.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Aspergers

I have completed twenty-seven hours toward my Master's degree in Special Education. Among the subjects which I have studied are all components of the Autism Spectrum which includes students diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome. In addition, several members of my immediate family are diagnosed with disorders along the Autism Spectrum thus I have a wealth of personal experience. Finally, I was regular education classroom teacher for nine years. During this time I designed and implemented instruction which accommodated students who were diagnosed along the Autism Spectrum.

Bible Studies

I have taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School at my church for the past several years. I also serve as a guest speaker/ preacher when our pastor is out-of-town. I have also been the leader of the men's fellowship at our church. I have serve in a variety of teaching roles in my church.

Microsoft Outlook

I have been an educator for eleven years. The primary email system used by educators in the state of Kentucky is Microsoft Outlook. I have encountered and solved a variety of problems with the system since I first used it. I believe that I am proficient in the use of all facets of Microsoft Outlook.

Religion

As both a Social Studies teacher and a Biblical scholar I have studied all of the major religions of the world. I am familiar with the primary beliefs and practices of Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Shinto, Sikhism and as well as other lesser known religions. In addition I am familiar with most of the sects within the major religious systems practiced around the world.
