I received a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from Union University in May 2016. I also received a Bachelor of Liberal Studies degree with concentrations in Education and English from the University of Memphis in December 2013. For the past five years, I have worked as a first grade teacher. I have been given the opportunity to experience teaching in an urban setting, both in Nevada and Tennessee. These experiences have strengthened my passion to see those I instruct learn and excel in academics. I had the opportunity to teach conversational English internationally Thailand. While teaching in this setting, I was able to work with both children and adults. The focus of my work in these groups were the basic elements of the English language as well as business etiquette. My experience working with English language learners has expanded since I have become a classroom teacher. I have also taught ESL online where I taught English to adults and children by way of media.

I have taught for the last two years in a school heavily populated with English language learners. Gaining professional development in teaching English as a second language, focusing on building confidence in learning as well as strategies in making learning a success, I have been given an opportunity to watch growth. I have also been able to teach a variety of grade levels in after-school tutoring, many of these students being English language learners. As a result of this cross-cultural teaching experience, I believe I am more qualified to teach students who come from a different background than my own.

I have taught elementary math for six years. I also have tutored 3rd-5th grade after school in math using a small group approach.
