In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Kentucky University. I have several years of substitute teaching experience in all grade levels and subjects. I have also completed several long term sub positions at the elementary school level. Including finishing the school year out for a 3rd grade teacher. During my long term sub positions my main teaching focus was centered around reading, math, and science. I also have a year of experience tutoring ESL students in reading and writing. These students varied from ages 3 - 18. However the majority of my students were k-5.
