Hi!

My name is Brandon. I received a 32 on the ACT in high school, graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Computer Engineering (hardware and software), and have several years of experience in the software development field. My college education and experience in the tech field have given me a unique perspective on STEM education (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) and how it is used in the real world. I have always had a passion for teaching, which is why I decided to become involved in STEM tutoring.

I have quite a bit of informal tutoring experience, including tutoring physics in high school to help a classmate pull his grade up and explaining various concepts to my classmates throughout our engineering curriculum in college in large study sessions. I am relatively new to professional tutoring as I currently have 2 weekly students for Algebra 1 and am looking to scale.

My teaching style is loosely based on the Socratic Method. I like to continually ask students to answer questions and explain as much as they can. This helps keep them engaged and helps me understand where any gaps in their knowledge are. This way I can focus on what the student wants to learn and avoid going over what they are already comfortable with. In my experience, this 1-on-1 approach is a much better method than traditional classroom instruction where the teacher has to go over things students already understand and skip or rush things they don't, in order to accommodate everyone.

I am an expert in all of high school math (except geometry), which includes the following subjects: Pre-algebra, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, Calculus 1 (AP Calculus AB). I will be able to answer ANY question that you have about these subjects in significant detail. If I struggle to answer a question, I will create a full video explanation and provide it to you free of charge.
