Bio

Hello! My name is Chelsea and I love helping students succeed and feel confident in their studies. I've worked with students of all ages (elementary to college) and have worked with children with emotional and behavioral challenges. I love making learning fun and helping students understand problems that once intimidated them. Seeing the pride in a student's eye as they solve a problem is one of my favorite things!

I love making learning fun and helping students understand problems that once intimidated them. Seeing the pride in a student's eye as they solve a problem is one of my favorite things!

A bit about my education: I scored a 33 on the ACT (English 35, Math 30, Reading 35, Science 32), graduated summa cum laude from Western Kentucky University, where I was a member of the Honors College, and I majored in Psychological Sciences and minored in American Sign Language Studies. I have taken math classes up to Calculus I in college, English classes up to English III in college, and have plenty of extracurricular experience such as world history, geology, geography, etc.

A bit about my experience: I have been tutoring since high school, and I absolutely adore it. Whether it be short-term tutoring for a test or long-term for an entire class, I would love to help you out. I have privately taught ASL to a student for a school year, tutored as a Peer Mentor for an entire class, volunteered as a tutor for peers, and have done private tutoring to classmates that reached out to me.

A bit about me: Education and experience aside, I'll share a bit about myself so you can get a taste of my personality. I am a Ravenclaw, and if you're into Harry Potter then you can pretty much guess my traits. I love reading, sewing, playing with my dogs, and learning new things. If you want a tutor who is fun, hard-working, and flexible, then I'm your perfect match! I look forward to working with you!

I minored in American Sign Language in college, was a Peer Mentor for a group of students, volunteered for a Deaf teacher in a homeschool setting, and was a personal tutor/teacher for a homeschool student for ASL. I have worked with students both in-person and via online settings and at all levels of ASL. I took the Sign Language Proficiency Interview (SLPI) and scored high with an Intermediate Plus. I have 5+ years of experience with ASL and continue to expand my knowledge daily. ASL is a wonderful, complex, and rich language, and I would love to help you fall in love with the language and Deaf* culture as much as I have!

Helpful and friendly tutor

She helped me remember signing cues to help me remember what the signs mean. Our lesson was just an hour but I learned quite a few signs. She is helpful. I look forward to additional lessons in the future

Patient, Transparent, and Dedicated

When I first reached out to Chelsea giving my niece lessons, she was honest about her level of experience and told us that she would take my niece as far as possible and help us find someone else. Teaching virtual sewing is not easy. Through creative thinking, Chelsea and my niece were able to get her through the basics and make a pillowcase in just a few lessons. True to her word, she took my niece as far as she could, and she will help us get someone else. My niece is confident with her skills in just a few lessons. Thank you, Chelsea!
