I am a retired elementary education teacher with thirty six years experience. I have taught preschool- doth grade in my career. I received my master's in 2013 in Elementary education with an endorsement in ESL and Teacher Leadership.
I moved from Fl. eight years ago with my husband to Bowling Green, Ky. In Fl. I taught Kindergarten for 17 years. The rest of my 28 years teaching there were divided between first, third, and fifth grades. In Bowling Green I taught ESL for four years, Kindergarten for one year, and just retired from teaching preschool at a private Christian school.
I have always been a highly effective teacher during my career.
I have used numerous different phonics program to teach phonics to Kindergarteners and first graders. One of my favorite programs is The Linda- Mood Program. I am a firm believer in teaching phonemic awareness to preschoolers- first graders.
I have 36 years experience teaching all kinds of children. I would love to be able to continue helping children learn by using my knowledge of education and experience. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have current teaching certificates in K-6 in the states of Kentucky, Tennessee, and Florida. I have taught 36 years in the field of Elementary Education. I taught 28 years in Florida and 8 years in Ky. I also hold a Master's in Elementary Ed.
I am certified Pre-k through 5 grade in three states. I have attended many phonics conferences and worked with the Linds Mood Bell phonics program for many years in the Hendry County Florida school system. I also hold an ESL endorsement on my masters for grades K-12.
I participated in Kentucky Reading Project in 2012 and have thirty-six years of teaching experience.
