I am a life-long professional church musician with very wide-ranging interests. I have earned a Master's degree and ABD (40 hours toward a doctorate). I am widely read in music, other arts, history, literature and sociology. Particularly in these areas I am capable of working with high school students. With many students, I would be able to expand that list to nearly all of their subject areas. I particularly enjoy helping in music, math and the language arts. I have a very high standard of moral and ethical behavior. If I were unable to expertly help a student, I would make that very clear so that a better qualified tutor could come in to the picture. I have some experience working with special needs children as well. Because of our adult son's special needs, I am empathetic and supportive of those who need a special kind of help. I thoroughly enjoy the one-on-one interaction and have built strong bonds with the children with whom I have worked. I have spent a great deal of time teaching adults, primarily in groups, but also in private lessons and one-on-one coaching

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have extensive background and working skills in ear training. As a conductor and organist, this is the most crucial skill that I call on daily to do my work. I have many creative ways to help students with this important musical skill.
I have worked with students in K-6th both in church choirs and in the classroom in public school settings. My broad range of interests assures me of having the knowledge to teach many topics to children of this age group.
I am a professional musician with 40 years of experience and advanced degrees in music. Teaching general music would be enjoyable for me and very profitable for the student.
I have a Master's degree in music plus 40 hours toward a doctorate. I have an in-depth understanding of music history and would love to share that with interested students.
Having achieved great success at undergraduate and graduate schools is an indication of my abilities related to study skills. I would be able to assist any student in improving their ability to prepare for exams and skills tests.
I have 40 years experience in working with singers, both in choral settings and doing individual coaching. I have a Master's degree in choral music and all but a dissertation for the doctorate degree in Choral music.
