Hi, I'm John! I graduated from Bethlehem High School in 2016 as a National Merit Commended Scholar. From there, I went to the University of Alabama as Math major and then transferred to the University of Dallas and changed my major to Business. At the moment, I am taking a year off college to become a full-stack web developer through Thinkful, an intensive online coding bootcamp centered in New York City. My main studies with Thinkful are Front and Back-end Web Development, Server Side Programming, and Data Structure and Algorithms. When I finish, I am going back to school in Texas to finish my business degree. I got most of my experience from tutoring elementary and middle-school students in their coursework, but I have also helped high schoolers with ACT and PSAT Prep. When I tutor, I try my best to be engaging and fun (to give the student a break from the bleak monotony of the classroom) while still actually aiding the student. Most of the time all it takes for a student to have that "Ah-ha" moment is just an explanation from a different perspective.

I am very comfortable with tutoring in math and have tutored from first-grade math to Algebra 1 and Geometry. My personal education in math is in lower level calculus and trigonometry in high school to higher level calculus at the University of Alabama and financial accounting classes at the University of Dallas.

I have always been good in English classes and have tutored from elementary students to high schoolers preparing for the ACT. When I was homeschooled for a few years my mother put me through an intense English curriculum that I have greatly benefited from (though I admit I forget what, say, nonrestrictive clauses and principle subordinate conjunctions are). In the ACT I scored 35's in both English and Reading and am very familiar with the better strategies of taking the test are as well as common mistakes students make.

I am very flexible with my schedule and can meet just about anytime. Feedback from both parents and students is GREATLY apprecia
