Hello. I'm Andy and I'm a teacher here in Wichita. I've been teaching since 2003 in the U.K., Japan, South Korea and the States. I have thoroughly enjoyed working in Elementary Schools, Language Schools, an International School, private tutoring and booster groups. These jobs have helped me become the calm, clear, experienced professional I am today.
I received my teaching license in 2002 in the U.K. and my Kansan license this year. I have almost completed my Master's Degree in Education.
I really love my job and found tutoring very helpful and fulfilling while working in Asia. Working 1-1 or with a small group has many advantages and the student benefits greatly. The quality time and interaction means learning is accelerated and results are more achievable.
I have studied Math at College and taught it at various levels for over 10 years. I'm very clear and have tutored many students through their examinations prep. I will unpack it in a way that's easy to grasp and understand. Math can be understood with patience, hard work and good teaching.
I have 6 years' teaching experience in Japan and South Korea. During this time I worked with a large variety of ages and students. I learnt how to be very clear and use language in a way that English second language students could understand. It can be very hard using a second language. I use my skills and experience to make learning not stressful and worthwhile. I make sure lots of real life situations are gone over and lots of natural speaking happens in the session. Practice really does help! It's amazing how fast you can learn in the right situation.
My main area of experience is K - 6th Grade. I have worked a lot in this age range and have enjoyed being a grade teacher since 2003. I have taught all the subjects, including planning, testing, revising and monitoring. This is the age I currently teach at the moment. I am respectful and polite and encourage my students to act this way as well. I am fair and understanding and value each child as an important individual that needs guidance and high quality teaching.
I am no new face to tutoring. It can be hard trying to figure out a subject by yourself and that's what I'm here for. With my encouragement and supportive style you will become confident and learn strategies which really work. Come and meet me at a coffee shop and I will honestly see if I can help and guide you. Short or long term tutoring is ok. All tutoring is confidential and I respect your rights and privacy. Drop me an email any time - Andy Hello. I'm Andy and I'm a teacher here in Wichita. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
