About Rudy

My bachelor's degree is in education, with an emphasis in mathematics. What that means is I was not a math major; I was an education major. When a math major is told a student doesn't understand, they typically just repeat their previous explanation a bit slower, with a bit more volume. When an education major is told a student understand, they ask the student WHAT they didn't understand. The main difference is one begins with the assumption that everyone already understands mathematics, while the other begins on the assumption that the student is capable of learning, but is most likely getting hung up on a step or two.
I have taught every kind of mathematics from Grade 6 through Pre-Calculus. I will freely admit to not being the best tutor money can buy for classes at Calculus and beyond, but if you need help understanding the why you are doing what you are doing in your class, I am very certain I can be the difference you are looking for.

A teacher gains very unique experience when teaching an entire course. I have taught Grade 6 up to Pre-Calculus and summertime academies for test preparation of the PSAT/SAT. I have actively tutored for the ACT since 2009, and have crafted campus-wide programs for the test.

I have made a career out of helping others understand mathematics. Other tutors can help you with your homework or prepare for a test, but I strive to help my students gain confidence to do as well in 'Math' as they do in their other subjects.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
