I ran track in high school and college. I was an all city and All-American sprinter. I also have been a practitioner in martial arts for over 30 years. I currently work as a personal trainer for children and mentor them about life choices and anti-bullying.
I'm an avid reader of self help books and psychology. I have over 500 hours of clinical therapy training in internship for clinical therapist.
My training and tutoring methods are to bring the best out of a student. I'm patient, thorough, rewarding and most of all, I make it fun! There is no monotony with me. I also practice martial arts and write music and poems as a hobby.
I pride myself with having started a mentorship program for students to boost their self-esteem. I want to be the best tutor for each student, as well as bring out the best in them. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have obtained 500 clinical internship client contact hours in Clinical Therapy for Marriage and Family Therapy in Friends University. I have successfully helped improved the grades and behavior in several children as well as teens who have ADD/ADHD. I as well have behavior worksheets and projects specifically for ADD/ADHD. My experience in this subject is vast and training them in martial arts where focus is needed has improved their level of conduct and play. Creating routines with them and having them follow that regimen each day plus changing their diet has positive effects.
I have been a personal trainer in fitness for the past 8 years in high intense cardio. Kickboxing is one of the best ways to tone and achieve the results one is seeking as well as a change in diet. I have helped many people as well as children create a positive change in self esteem and decrease stress mentally and gain a healthier way of living. My methods of training is focusing on technique, form,proper stretching and creating nutrition plans for all students and clients. I explain to each person why certain techniques work based on their body type and style of training and the difference in good vs bad carbs and training habits.
I have played football on every level up to college. My position was wide-receiver and corner back. My coaching experience has been with Pop Warner football. My training is proper tackling techniques for safe play while avoiding injury to self and opponent. I coach the children in fundamentals of teamwork, sportsmanship, and fair play.
I have over 30 years of martial art experience in such styles as Muay Thai Kickboxing, JuJitsu, Wing Chun, Boxing, and Jeet Kune Do. I have created and anti bullying program in Wichita and teach every student the way of defending themselves and self confidence in themselves and helping others. They are trained in techniques of kicks strikes, grapling, and boxing. The students are graded on sportsmanship, fairness to others,non bullying, and self discipline. I teach the classes in fun manners such as games and competitions to earn belts or rewards and field trips for great practices.
I ran track my junior and senior year for Wichita Southeast High School. I also ran track for 2 years in college, and was All American, plus 4 years in AAU as well as USATF (United States Track and Field) association. After my running career as champion in multiple events, I coached track and field for 7 years for various age ranges.
