About Jeanne

Learning the basics can always be frustrating, however with my multisensory approach, students can achieve higher scores and a higher level of understanding of what they are learning by using a variety of pathways to the brain which can assist with long term memory. I have a Kansas and Missouri teaching license, along with 30 years of teaching experience in Special Education, 22 years at the elementary level. I use music, art, movement, and games to teach material that is difficult to comprehend. Keeping things light and fun keeps the kids engaged longer, and eager to learn.

With Middle School and High School students, understanding the meaning and process is key to learning. I like to take information and break it apart into tiny bits of knowledge, and then rebuild it into the whole idea. Repetition can be an important tool also to make sure a student places the new knowledge into longterm memory.

I have been teaching for 30 years in Special Education and Language Arts. I attended the University of Missouri, Missouri State University, and Wichita State University to earn licenses to teach Biology, Physical Education, Special Education (Funcional, Adapted, Multiply Handicapped, and Early Childhood Special Education students). I graduated with my Master's Degree from Friends University in 1991 in Special Education. I qualify to teach 14 subjects.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
