Bio

When I was an engineer, I found I especially liked welcoming new interns into our department. I loved showing them how to do things and seeing their enthusiasm. This eventually translated into a career change for me, as I started teaching college math as an adjunct and then transitioned to teaching high school math as well. I have been teaching for 15 years now, at both the high school and college levels.

I love tutoring students because I really get to know their individual problems with math. I can find and fill knowledge gaps that they may not realize they had, enabling them to make progress through their current math courses. I also love seeing how each student's brain processes math and trying to help them understand themselves and how they learn math better. I want each of my students to become confident in their math abilities.

I love helping people understand things that they find difficult to comprehend. I find there is no person who cannot learn math, though we all learn and understand in different ways. My job is to help you learn how to understand math concepts. Tutoring is a way that I can help people make significant progress through difficult courses. I have a good understanding of the different problems people have with understanding math and a patient attitude while helping them learn and coaching them into becoming more confident in their math abilities. I am very fluent in topics from Algebra 1 through Calculus 1 and also am adept at Statistics. I look forward to helping you become confident in your own math abilities.

Please consider getting tutoring in math alongside a course you are taking so that if/when you have problems, you have a qualified person ready/able to help you that knows your individual needs as a student. I look forward to hearing from you.

I have been active in the both the USD65 and the USD259 transition to Common Core. In USD259, I was asked to help select appropriate curriculum for Geometry and participated in implementing Common Core curriculum for both Algebra 1 and Geometry for the past two years. I have experience in both custom curriculum creation and implementation as well as teaching Common Core math with the Agile Mind common core curriculum.

Homeschool

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have been teaching and tutoring Algebra 1 for 8 years to both high school and adult students. If you're trying to become more proficient at Algebra or get through College Algebra, let me be the one to help you.
Algebra 2,

Algebra 2

I have been teaching Algebra for several years now. I teach all levels at my high school, depending on the year and really enjoy helping students understand the intricacies of Algebra 2.
Geometry,

Geometry

I am currently a high school Geometry teacher. Geometry is a tricky subject to teach, because it involves a lot of logic. Students have to internalize the theorems and postulates before they can solve problems. Additionally, lots of students find they have issues with writing the appropriate equations to solve problems. Other students find they have underlying Algebra issues that prevent them from getting correct answers. I can help.
Precalculus,

Precalculus

I currently teach Precalculus at the high school level. It is one of my favorite courses to teach because it brings together all the math you've learned so far in preparation for Calculus. Let's get you ready to go and confident in your math abilities so that learning Calculus later on is much easier.
