Barton County Community College (AS in Early Childhood)
I' m here to help give you a break and relax for a bit. I have been in the school district for over six years now working with children from preschool to high school age. I have also worked in special services so I've come across all different situations. I was a paraprofessional for four years and the last two years I have substituted. I also hold a Kansas Program Directors license. I have truly enjoyed substituting and being able to work with all ages of students. It is truly a blessing to see that I am making a difference in the lives of children when I see the smile on their faces when they do something right. It is simply amazing. I would not change it for the world. I have chosen to start tutoring because I have realized how busy our lives are but if I can help and change just one child's life by helping them, then I've accomplished what I have set out to do. That is making children learn and understand that a little hard work will pay off.
I would bring to your child a broad range of skills, including:
• Center Program Director (up to 100 infant, toddler, Pre-K, school age children)
• Infant and Toddler Education Certificate 5/2013
• Preschool Education Certificate 5/2013
• Early Childhood Practicum (3 to 5 years old)
• Child Development Associate (CDA class)
• Substitute Teacher PRK – 12, expires 6/2015

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Having worked in a preschool classroom and classes from my ECE degree, I've had a lot of experience with Phonics. As an educator you need to help them learn that Phonics involves the relationship between sounds and their spelling. The goal is to teach the child the most common sound-spelling relationship so the child is able to sound out the words or decoding them. The key element to learning to read.
