Hello, I'm Andrea. I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master's degree in Special Education. For the past 16 years I have taught either 2nd or 3rd grades. One of the greatest honors I received while teaching was being named a 2013 Kansas Teacher of the Year nominee. This is my first year not teaching in order to stay home with my two young daughters. I have still enjoyed helping students learn this year by tutoring on the weekends or in the evenings. I make learning fun by incorporating hands on practice, game-like formats, and selecting material based on students' interests. My tutoring sessions are individually focused on the needs of the student, their ability level, and the standards associated with their grade level, which I am very knowledgeable on. I have materials of my own to use, but welcome any resources or suggestions parents have.
My goal is to give students confidence in subject areas they find more difficult and give them the tools/practice they need to succeed on their own. I love seeing their growth and witness children master skills with ease that were once a challenge. I will encourage, praise, and have fun all while helping students through hard work.
