About Lindsey

Hello my name is Lindsey and I am a high school Mathematics teacher. I graduated from Baker University with degrees in Mathematics and Secondary Education. For the past four years I've taught Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 in the Overland Park area.

I enjoy being in the classroom but I really love helping students one on one! Through tutoring a student you are able to learn the students background, strengths and weakness to make the time spent tutoring as effective as possible! I tutored quite a bit in college and worked with a few families I'm close with over the past few years. However this summer I'd like to reach out and be of service to students in the Overland Park area.

I truly believe everyone can achieve success in mathematics.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

ACT Math

I am a High School Mathematics teacher and I've also taught an ACT course. I am familiar with the format of the Math portion of the ACT as well as the types of questions that are asked. I've taught Algebra 1, Geometry and Algebra 2 and that curriculum composes nearly the entire ACT Math section.

Algebra 1

I am a High School Mathematics teacher and I've taught Algebra 1 for two years. I've also been a part of my district's curriculum mapping process, ensuring that the curriculum is aligned with Common Core. I am familiar with the subjects and how Algebra 1 builds foundational understanding for mathematical concepts students will see the rest of the math careers.

Algebra 2

I am a High School Mathematics teacher and I've taught Algebra 2 for 4 years. It is the subject I am the most comfortable with and I love teaching it. I usually like to introduce topic, see what we can model with that particular function, what operations can be done, what the graph looks like etc.

Prealgebra

I am a High School Mathematics teacher. I have taught Algebra 1, Algebra 2 and Geometry so I know the necessary skills needed in to be successful in those courses and some are built and strengthened in Pre-Algebra. I am comfortable using manipulative to model as well as drawing diagrams. I think a lot of Pre-Algebra is better if experienced and modeled, versus this is the rule and when this happens we do this.
