About Jack

I am a registered Professional Engineer in Kansas and Indiana. Most of my course work is from Purdue University, with single courses additionally from University of Missouri and Kansas State University, along with individual industry-offered courses at General Electric Co., Robicon Corp., and St. Louis Electrical Board. I have taught courses in electrical technology at various industries and utilities. My teaching methods included use of an appropriate textbook, lectures, and demonstrations with equipment which I sometimes devised and provided myself, as well as what the specific company might provide. Students are always encouraged to ask questions, and reviews are given before tests.

I have taught math at both public high schools and colleges. I am a licensed professional secondary school teacher in the State of Indiana. I use textbooks, lecture, and demonstrations in my teaching methods, and encourage questions and discussions. I love seeing the “light turn on” as students begin to learn and see practical application for what they are learning.

I have taught physics and chemistry at both public and alternative high schools and at colleges. I have taught electrical technology in industrial settings. I am a licensed professional secondary school teacher in the State of Indiana and a registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in Indiana and Kansas. I use textbooks, lecture, and demonstrations in my teaching methods, and encourage questions and discussions. I often use equipment I have devised and brought to the classroom to demonstrate concepts to supplement the students' book learning. I love seeing the “light turn on” as students begin to learn and see practical application for what they are learning.

I always offer a free initial consultation with student (and parent, if applicable). I make arrangements for a suitable meeting place (often scheduling a private study room at one of the nearby public libraries) that is convenient for both the student and myself. I try to be flexible with time. I look forward to hearing from you and helping you achieve success in your studies!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
