After graduating from Rockhurst College as an adult student I decided to return once again to school and pursue my master's in Education from Avila in KC,Mo. I will probably continue on to study Special Education as a Reading interventionist and ESL certification.
I have taken my Praxis certification in English Literature and received the Excellence Award for scoring in the top 15%. I have also preformed ESL tutoring through Catholic Charities and am currently a very involved tutor in the Kansas City Literacy program. I have tutored an adult student with second language issues for a year and a half.
My life long love of reading has include a 4 year career at Border's Books. I am very familiar with many types of Literature from modern to popular to classic. I am also a creative writer myself and dabble in essays, poetry and short fiction. My past jobs have included legal assistant at Interstate Brands Corporation, which included a large amount of legal and technical writing.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
