Dean provided one-on-one personal, focused business advice/counseling according to my questions, needs, and expressed areas of interest. I got out of the meeting just exactly what I needed and wanted at that time: baseline, fundamental principles, points, and values which drive successful business relationships, services, and products. In addition, Dean provided a variety of solid and well-authored resources of print, internet, and media. I am looking forward to another meeting to further build upon the business foundational concepts we discussed in the first encounter.
Dean is a very intelligent and patient tutor. I had not taken a math class in 30 years. Dean helped me understand concepts and how to break down the problems and solve at a much faster pace. By the time I finished my upper level college Investments (8 weeks), I was able to complete the assignments prior to meeting with him. I think you will be very happy you make the decision to hire Dean as your tutor. I am, and will continue to work with him on the next class. Good Luck.
I finished the Investments class, and achieved my goals; learning as much as possible and making an A.
Dean has been great teaching my son basketball. He has been very patient and thorough in his explanations of what should be done. I would highly recommend Dean.
Dean was a great help to me. And he was very prompt on returning my emails and calls. In fact he was the only tutor out of the four I originally emailed that even got back with me. He was also right on time to our meeting spot. I'm very glad I called. I feel a lot more confident in my work now. Thanks Dean!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have followed the game of basketball most of my life, and have attended many, many games, at the high school, college and professional level. I played for two years in junior high school. I also coached my son's basketball team for four years in the Blue Valley Recreation Commission league when he was in grade school and middle school.
I have spent over 30 years in client-based service organizations in the private sector, in sales, management, recruiting and business coaching.
While in consulting engineering, I was a branch manager for 3 years, being responsible for all aspects of the operations, staffing, and profitability of a 100+ employee office.
In my 13 years as a Financial Advisor with Morgan Stanley, I built a practice of over 200 clients, with responsibility of maintaining over $30 million in investment assets.
I love working with kids of all ages. My experience with this particular age group is as follows:
* Two years as a Cub Scout den leader for my son's Cub Scout pack
* Two years as a preteen after-school mentor at a transitional housing organization serving the homeless in Kansas City, MO
* Youth basketball coach for four years for my son's team for the Blue Valley Recreation District, 4th-7th grade
* Summer reading program in Kansas City, Kansas through my church for 1st graders
Having been a business owner and entrepreneur for almost 20 years, I've had the opportunity to speak on a wide variety of topics, to a wide array of audiences. I've also gained valuable experience in speaking before groups while in a leadership role. Here is a sampling of my speaking experience:
* Conducted monthly retirement planning workshops before prospective clients over an 8-year period while serving as a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley
* Regular speaker presiding over monthly luncheons for the Small and Home Business Connection (SHBC) while President in 2009
* Regular speaker presiding over monthly luncheons for Heartland Coaches Association while President in 2010
* Served as guest speaker at numerous association meetings over a variety of topics, including leadership, communication, and work/life balance
* Member of the high school debate squad for both my junior and senior years
Throughout junior high and high school, I was consistently an honor roll student. I also took several honors courses in mathematics, physics and English.
I received a B.S. in civil engineering from the University of Kansas. This degree required the study of difficult, challenging subject matters, including calculus, chemistry, statics and dynamics, soil mechanics, and several design classes. All these classes required long, rigorous hours of study.
In my professional life, I've had to study for and take numerous tests to achieve licensing and complete continuing education courses in both the consulting engineering and financial services professions.
