About Rachel

Hi! My name is Rachel and I'm a student at the University of Kansas. I'm double majoring and getting a Bachelor of Arts in Music (flute) and a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Growing up, I attended Kumon Learning Center in which I took lessons in English. When I graduated from the program, I was hired as an instructor and worked their for five years helping students K-12 with math and reading/English. Along with that, I began to teach students outside of Kumon in varying subjects such as math, reading and sciences. I also have experience in giving elementary flute lessons.

During my time at Kumon, I realized how much I enjoyed teaching students math. I find that there's nothing more satisfying than when a student is able to figure out a complicated concept and is able to do their math with ease. As much as I love helping, I understand that the end goal is to help the student understand and figure out the problems with minimal help.

I understand what it is like to struggle with math and therefore I've become very patient and understanding and try my best to think as a student does in order to help them best. I didn't find my love for math until my junior year of high school. Even then, I continued to struggle with understanding concepts, but found it far more satisfying to get help and fully understand each concept.

I have experience working with individuals of different ages and various backgrounds and would love to play in role in your academic success!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
