Bio

I spent time in college with my Italian relatives near Rome and was asked to teach basic Italian at the University of Kansas as an undergraduate. I then funded my graduated degree teaching all levels of Italian at the university, and through many years of corporate career work, have often returned to teaching as a fun hobby to connect people with culture, family and new experiences.

I then funded my graduated degree teaching all levels of Italian at the university, and through many years of corporate career work, have often returned to teaching as a fun hobby to connect people with culture, family and new experiences.

I have taught private groups going to Italy on vacation, children, individuals desiring a base of Italian for scholarship, groups of students in the architecture and business schools on study abroad, and many student who just need help improving their Italian grades. I love teaching and look forward to helping you learn more of "la bella lingua" for whatever reason!

I am warm, compassionate, love the people, food, art, music, history--and of course, language, of Italy. I am skilled in explaining language systems and finding different avenues for language comprehension and retention.

I will be pleased to help you get on top of your homework, study for tests, prepare for a trip, or just learn more about the most beautiful language in the world. Please contact me and I will promptly reply.

Italian

I have a bachelor's in Italian literature from the University of Kansas. I taught there about six years in all, first to pay my way through graduate school in Journalism, then later when I wanted a more flexible career after my first child was born. I won the department's instructor of the year award and was asked twice to accompany groups of students to Florence, Italy. I have taught a variety of group, private, and children's classes and "camps." I love incorporating music and cuisine into my lessons--I even helped an up-and-coming Umbrian chef tour the midwest and teach cooking classes (with me interpreting!) I have family near Rome, in Civita Castellana, and I am passionate about the value learning another language--even a little--can bring to your life and life perspective. Parliamo italiano!
