About Henry

I have been a student tutor since freshman year of my high school, I am currently a sophomore at the University of Kansas. I have finished all the basic math courses up to Math 590, I will be getting into some graduate level classes next semester. I tutored my classmates in the classes I am enrolled in and in the classes that I have already taken. I tutored students in calculus I and II, college algebra, and chemistry. I am currently a student tutor for my school TRIO Supportive Educational Services, and I am going to apply to be either a chemistry or a math teaching assistant. Also, I am a student tutor for tutoring websites, and I tutored students from more than 20 classes through them.

I feel great when I can help students understand the problems and help them achieve their goals. I am very thankful that God gave me the ability to think subjects like Calculus and Chemistry to be interesting, so I want help others to see that they can learn a hard course in a fun way. I am very patient when comes to problem explaining, and I would always come up different ways to explain the problem to different students. I love my job.

I have received an A+ in algebra 1 and 2, geometry, precalculus, and both calculus courses. I try to prepare myself every time before I tutor a student, I would do many problems that are related to the subject and I like to come up new ways to teach students to help them engage in the lessons.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have tutored students in various algebra classes, though it is the classes one has to take before more advance math courses, I think they are very important because they are the foundation of many concepts. I have helped many students who were struggling in the algebra courses to see that algebra is actually fun. I use a lot of real life examples to show the problem, which makes the problems much easier to understand.

Algebra 2

I started tutoring my classmates while I was taking calculus courses, they are so interesting once you understand the concepts. I set the curve on all my college calculus exams, my strategies were study while learning, I tried to understand all the concepts through homework and review all the details I did not understand. I have my own unique way to teach students who are struggling in calculus course, I usually break down a problem into small steps and provide with drawings and simple examples.

Differential Equations

I have taken the course Ordinary differential equation, and I will be taking a more advance ODE class next semester. I have aced almost all the exams when I took the class. I have tutored students in this course for two semesters. I usually go over the review materials with an easier approach to the problems. Mainly the ways to solve different differential equations.

Great tutor

He helped me a lot with my chemistry struggles. He is patient and good at explaining things. He is reliable and gets back to you quickly. I feel a lot more comfortable with what I'm learning and not as stressed out since he helped me. I definitely recommend.
