I love helping students succeed in every way possible. What I love most is seeing a student of any age achieve a goal that he or she hadn't thought possible before. I also love course scheduling and counseling to help students with the next steps in their academic careers. As a summa cum laude four-year graduate in Accounting with minors in Finance and Behavioral Science, I love fitting in as much learning as possible into brief periods of time.
I specialize in Maths such as Algebra, Algebra II, and Geometry, as well as Business classes such as Economics, Finance, and Accounting. I tutored in my college Math Center for students taking a variety of math classes, but particularly those in Algebra and Financial Math. In college, I also ran Financial Accounting "lab" sessions for course credit, and routinely helped students in Accounting and Finance.
I also love proofreading essays and tutoring English and ACT/SAT prep. My other passions include public speaking, drawing, and painting.
I can be flexible with tutoring schedules, particularly with evening and weekend sessions. I typically work out of public libraries, but can be flexible on public locations as needed.
I look forward to hearing from you. Good luck with your studies! I love helping students succeed in every way possible. For distances further than 15 miles, I have a two hour minimum. Group rates can be arranged at request.
Excellent tutor. Very helpful and insightful. I was able to learn a lot from me her in just one session alone. Recommend her highly (especially to accounting students).
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I was valedictorian of my university with a major in business, specifically Accounting with a minor in Finance, but I took some classes in each major discipline of business. I assisted students in my classes and after I had completed those classes. My particular favorites to assist with were accounting, economics, and business policy/strategic planning classes.
I have worked for the admissions office of a 4-year university, and also for a career college. I know the benefits of multiple careers, and I am able to advise students on ways to meet their goals. At my university, I was also a peer counselor, helping freshman acclimate to college life and assisting in any way possible. I have a passion for helping college students, and would love to use the skills that I have gained.
I chose to take art lessons consistently through my elementary, middle, and high school education, including an intensive program each day of my senior year. I am accomplished at drawing and I have some architecture sketching experience as well. I have continued art as a hobby in my spare time. I encourage students to start drawing with a grid pattern for precision drawing, and I specialize in realistic drawings.
I gained extensive public speaking experience through high school and college. I took three years of an intensive rhetoric program, participated in speech and debate related extracurricular activities, and took speech and business communication college classes. I will start with simple assignments, such as telling a joke, and then I would work with the student towards being comfortable giving a full speech in front of an audience.
In college, I was a peer counselor, meaning that I taught the freshman orientation class. This class focused on helping students adjust to college academics, particularly study skills and time management. Through classes, working with students, and managing my own work, I have developed a number of study skills techniques that I would love to share with students.
I have my bachelor's in accounting with a 4.0 GPA including two upper division Tax Accounting courses. I have prepared taxes for friends and family and for low income individuals and families in the IRS VITA (tax assistance program). I use practice examples to help my students understand tax codes.
