The love of learning is the essence of life. I enjoy working with students in helping them in the mastery of the skills and the rigor that math requires. I have a bachelor of arts in secondary education mathematics. I have experience in tutoring and have experience teaching math in the Kansas City Kansas Public Schools USD# 500 and the Kansas City Missouri School District.
I specialize tutoring in pre-algebra, algebra I, and algebra II. The goals for each of my session are that my students gain the mastery of drills for solving problems, gain understanding of mathematical concepts and apply previous concepts learned. I seek to make each tutoring experience a positive and productive one. I earnestly seek feedback in order to better my ability to serve my students to the utmost of my ability.
I try to be flexible with my time. While I do have a 24-hour cancellation policy, I do offer to make up any sessions as needed. I am willing to meet you at your home or any place you feel that is beneficial to the tutoring experience.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified in teaching and tutoring Algebra I because of my extensive experience with it. I have assisted others in their studies and have a B.A. degree in Secondary Education in Math. I enjoy working with students one-on-one allowing them to practice on their own to assess their grasps of the subject matter. I also aim for my students to gain understanding of the mathematical concepts by means of inquiry so that they may gain a greater mastery of what they are doing.
As one delves into the area of Algebra II one can expect to work with more non-numerical mathematical objects. I have worked extensively with quadratic equations, working with and manipulating the known and unknowns, monomial and polynomials along with other things involved with this subject. I look forward to assisting my students whether they complete their studies in this area or seek to build their foundation for more advance courses in Mathematics.
Pre-algebra covers many of the rudiments you need to know for exploring this subject further. I have worked with and taught areas as it relates to natural numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, and negative numbers. It is important to learn about the concept of factorization for this is critical as one goes into more advance levels of algebra. These concepts and more I will be able to help my students with as they seek to understand and master this area of study.
