In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am a certified Elementary teacher and am very excited to help young students thrive in their learning. During my student teaching experiences through K-State, I created and implemented lesson plans covering a variety of subjects. I constructed and taught a multi-week unit which covered components of good citizenship and leadership. Through these various experiences, I grew as a teacher and gained lots of experience working with different types of students.
Even though I am a certified teacher with classroom experience, I thrive on working with students on a very personal basis. I had the privilege of working with several reading groups and participating in several tutoring opportunities during my college years. I will take all my knowledge of different instructional strategies, learning styles, and curriculum implementation and work to personalize instruction for each student.

My journey with piano began at the age of 5 years old. I took piano lessons from ages 5-18, with lessons focused on classical piano techniques. During that time I was blessed to work with two very accomplished teachers who continually pushed me to strive for excellence. When I was 15 years old, I began to take on the role of church pianist as well as continuing with my classical piano lessons. My church music experience continued for 3 years until I graduated from high school. During those years, I worked on honing my contemporary music skills, sight reading skills, and accompanist techniques.
I have 3 years of piano teaching experience. I love helping young students learn to appreciate music as much as I do. Each lesson that I teach is individualized for every child, and I want to make sure that every student succeeds and their love for music continues.
