James Madison University (Mathematics)
I currently live in Emporia Kansas. I recently moved leaving my middle school special education paraprofessional position with the Lawrence Public School District held for 4 years. I love algebra and geometry and majored in mathematics completing my bachelor's degree. I have a passion for young people to see that math is something that they can learn. I want them to realize math can be fun. Inmathematics every core concept builds on previously learned ones. It is vital to learn each level to be successful in the next. I will sit down with your student and explain the information, practice problems with them until they and I believe they can complete their work. I will not complete their work for them however, as this is not fostering their knowledge of the subject and sets them up for failure on their testing in school. I also have experience in teaching diverse learners and can adjust, reexplain in a different manner, etc to adapt to a students learning style. I also expect a student to come with their materials, willing to work and no excuses. I will come prepared to teach with a positive attitude, lots of encouragement, and knowledge of the subject.

Tracy is a personable, caring person who is helping my son understand how to view his math differently. I am pleased with her patience and positivity. My son is open to her help (something he struggles with). This means he views her as an asset. Thank you, Tracy!
I pretty much can't say enough wonderful things about Tracy. My son has a significant learning disability and is easily frustrated as a result. Tracy is patient with him, but encourages him to do his best and doesn't accept less than his best. It takes a village and I'm so glad Tracy and I are in the same village.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am qualified to teach this subject as it is my favorite math subject. I majored in mathematics in college and love the puzzle solving aspect of algebra. I enjoy teaching students how letters and numbers can work together in math.
Algebra 2 is built on algebra one my favorite subject. It is more complex and harder to teach but rewarding nonetheless. I have a degree in the subject and got A's in high school as well. I enjoy helping students understanding graphs and how the equations they learned to solve translate into graphs.
I have a bachelors degree in mathematics. I am currently an aide in a middle school assisting students who are behind in their math studies. I home taught my sons through third grade and assisted them in math beyond that point into high school levels. I love helping young people to enjoy math and not see it as boring work. I also work hard to help meet a students learning style and tailor lessons to help them in this regard.
Geometry is a subject that is exciting due to all the real world applications it has. Solving proofs are like solving riddles. I highly enjoy showing students how to move from understanding two dimensional figures to three dimensional and have been known to even grab something off the shelf to demonstrate what they are looking at on the books page. Often students have difficulties visualizing a flat image on a page as a three dimensional object. I love being able to make these things come to life for students.
Pre algebra is the starting point introduction to algebra or the building foundation. It is understanding of these building blocks that is vital to moving forward to algebra 1. I enjoy making the connections of this come alive for students. I have a degree in mathematics and algebra is my favorite subject.
