University of Central Missouri (Psychology)
Attending Wichita State University (Enrolled)
I am a current graduate student at Wichita State University, working on obtaining my doctorate in Clinical Psychology. Throughout my educational career, I have sought opportunities to assist others as they were on their own educational paths. One of the things I absolutely adore with tutoring and teaching others is the spark of when someone finally 'gets it'. They've been struggling with whatever the task at hand is, and their hard work pays off - providing an a-ha moment. The smile, the excitement, and the pride associated with this reigns insurmountable to me. Offering individuals guidance as they work on their own educational and career pursuits and helping others achieve their goals is ultimately priceless.
I have always been one of those 'nerdy' kids that loved math. Everything math related was and is exciting to me. I adored having a right and wrong answer and learning the ways to get the result. Although I have experience and coursework through calculus, I feel I can best serve my clients with their needs in Algebra (I & II), Statistics, and prepping for the Graduate Record Exam. Throughout high school I tutored elementary children in my area, and once I graduated high school I opted to work as a paraprofessional within my school district and assisted in the junior high classrooms. Oftentimes I acted as an aid for all children in that room.
Regarding psychology, I have chosen to make this my lifelong pursuit. I am currently a graduate student working on finishing my PhD in Clinical Psychology. I have taken over 120 hours on the subject, and I currently teach undergraduate psychology courses at Wichita State University (general psychology, biopsychology, and developmental psychology). I found myself tutoring low-SES students and non-traditional individuals during my undergraduate career and found a love for assisting others. This is definitely the area I feel most comfortable with, but can tailor my skills and knowledge to assist you in your success.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
Although I am a current graduate student in psychology, a passion of mine has always been music. I have history subbing for general music classes, teaching lessons (voice, piano, and bassoon), and running my own chamber groups (vocal a capella group and chamber winds). I received a 5 on my AP Music Theory exam when I took the course.
