Hello! My name is Emma, and I am currently a graduate student studying Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Southern New Hampshire University. I also work full time in administration at a local Engineering School. I live in Terre Haute, Indiana, and enjoy being involved in the community. I am a member of the local Altrusa chapter, which focuses on early childhood literacy.
My background includes a little over six years worth of proofreading and editing experience. I was a student tutor and tutor supervisor during my undergraduate degree. I'm well verse in APA and MLA citations, as well as adequate knowledge in AP style. I was staff writing, managing editor, and editor-in-chief of my undergraduate newspaper for three years. My bachelors and masters degree are both in psychology, so I am comfortable providing services in that area as well. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
I graduated with 3.8 GPA with an undergraduate degree in psychology. I have completed master's level classes in Statistics, Research 1, and Ethics in Psychological Professions.
While in my undergraduate career, I was a tutor and tutor supervisor for both on campus and online students. For three years I provided proofreading and citation assistance to students writing in MLA and APA citations. I also was a staff writer, managing editor, and editor-in-chief for The Woods, our collegiate Newspaper, were I won two Indiana Collegiate Press Association awards for Best News Story and Best News Series. In my current full time position at a local engineering school, I write and edit the class notes in the alumni magazine. I also write and proofread all emails, letters, and publications which leave our office.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
