I am passionate about both teaching and learning and hope to share this with students. My specialties are math and science - I have a bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame and currently work as an engineer - but I also have a thorough understanding of history and enjoy teaching all of these subjects. I have two years of tutoring experience, ranging from elementary school English to college-level calculus and organic chemistry.

My communication and interpersonal skills allow me to effectively teach subjects that seem complex and difficult. I seek to understand the student's learning style and see which specific concepts or ideas they either grasp easily or find difficult. It is of vital importance to me that students learn concepts and the "why" behind the subject rather than learning through rote memorization; I believe this puts students in the best position to retain information and succeed after tutoring sessions are complete.

For me, the greatest reward in tutoring is seeing students understand a concept so well that they are able to explain it back to me and apply it to new problems and contexts.

I have 18 credits of college-level math and have worked as an engineer for three years. I have tutored college calculus, and I have a thorough understanding not only of how to solve problems, but the mathematical concepts behind them and I can communicate these verbally, graphically, or with practical examples in order to suit a student's learning strengths.

I have a degree in Chemical Engineering and 3 years working as an engineer where often I have to explain engineering work to those without an engineering background. I have tutored college-level organic chemistry. I really enjoy showing students how chemistry and physics apply to everyday life and am comfortable explaining theoretical concepts, problem-solving, and practical applications of scientific theory.

Understanding "why" a certain math or science problem is solved the way it is is both more effective a

Extremely helpful physics tutor

In just two sessions Fernando taught me projectile motion and many of the basic concepts regarding the kinematic equations in introductory Physics. He is friendly and encouraging in his teaching which makes it very easy to learn. I have already scheduled more lessons in the future and would definitely recommend him for anyone looking to learn physics.
